Principles of Solvent Welding
Course attendees will learn the proper method of solvent welding plastic pipe and fittings, a process that affects nearly all irrigation installations.  The facts and techniques are taught per ASTM D2855 standards, which are written to ensure fewer joint failures on the job.  Additional topics include how to choose the proper cement for the application, hot and cold weather tips, causes of joint failures, and safety precautions.

For more than 50 years, the Portland Japanese Garden has been a haven of serenity and tranquility in the scenic West Hills of Portland.  In 2015, the Portland Japanese Garden embarked on its $33.5 million expansion project namely “Cultural Crossing” adding 3.5 acres to the existing 9-acre property.  The new facility and gardens will not only provide additional space to accommodate its rapid visitor growth, but also enhance its ability to immerse visitors in traditional Japanese arts and culture.

Pay Equity – Every Employer Needs to do Something
The Oregon Equal Pay Act of 2017 strengthens existing protections, creates new provisions to ensure an individual's past salary does not hold them back when applying for a new job, and encourages all employers to conduct a pay equity study. The law has created considerable new obligations and areas of liability for Oregon employers and it can take time for businesses to discover and correct pay inequities in a workforce. While certain provisions of the law do not take effect until 2024, there are steps that need to be taken in advance of that date. We will cover an overview of the law and the obligations each employer needs to assess and act upon.
