Tanking Economy Forces Day of Reckoning

With the economy tanking worldwide, Oregon's projected deficit for the 2007.2009 biennium is approximately $885 million (out of a $15 billion General Fund budget.  Required to balance the budget by the state's constitution, Oregon's Ways and Means Committee is recommending splitting the baby by making both cuts and using some of the federal stimulus funds.  Click here for full article
